Laser Surgery

The carbon dioxide laser has been used for over 15 years in dental surgery and has been cleared by the FDA for soft tissue use. Recent advances in technology have made it possible to utilize the laser in the private office setting.

The carbon dioxide laser has significant benefits for patients requiring soft tissue surgery:

  • Bloodless procedures - The laser seals blood vessels as it cuts.

  • Virtually painless post-operative course - The laser does not traumatize surrounding tissue. Most patients require minimal post-operative medication.

  • Little, or no, swelling or edema - The laser seals lymph vessels as it cuts.

  • Reduced patient stress - The laser is a no-contact device. There is no noise or vibration.

Procedures such as biopsies, frenectomies, removal of lesions and other soft tissue surgeries can be accomplished quickly and with greater patient comfort with the laser.
